Kanlaon ashfall, Inday halt flights in Mactan airport

CEBU CITY–Four domestic flights to and from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) were canceled on Friday due to volcanic ashfall from the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, airport authorities said.

In a flight advisory around noon on Friday, MCIA said the canceled departures were to Masbate and Camiguin, and arrivals from the same areas:

The advisory came a day after ashfall from Kanlaon Volcano reached parts of Central Visayas following the volcano’s eruption on Thursday. MCIA also urged passengers and the public to continue wearing face masks as a precaution against exposure to volcanic ash.

An hour later, airport authorities also announced the cancellation of five more flights due to Super Typhoon Inday:
