
GAMU, Isabela – The Batanes provincial government has suspended all government work starting at 3 pm on Friday to shield its workers from Typhoon Inday.
In his executive order, Batanes Gov. Ronald Aguto said the suspension “will provide enough time for government employees to travel home safely and to prepare their homes” before the expected strong winds and heavy rains begin on Friday night.

Frontline workers tackling basic and health services, disaster preparedness, response operations, and public safety have remained at their stations.

The Provincial Emergency Operations Center will monitor and deploy first responders to any emergency scene, the governor added.
Batanes is under Signal No. 2 and in red alert status, while a blue alert is in effect in Cagayan.
The main evacuation center has been opened for families who “preemptively” fled their homes, including “highly vulnerable sectors” like senior citizens, pregnant women and disabled persons.
A “no sail, no fishing and no swimming” policy has been implemented in the region since Thursday./coa
