
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Four individuals are set to face drug-related charges after being arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Cebu City and Dalaguete, Cebu, on Thursday, July 9.
The operations also led to the dismantling of a suspected drug den and the seizure of around 60 grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated ₱408,000.
The joint operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) resulted in the arrest of three suspects in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, and another in Barangay Upper Balud, Dalaguete.
Drug den dismantled in Cebu City
At around 3:59 p.m., operatives from PDEA Cebu City Office and Labangon Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation along Salvador Extension in Barangay Labangon.
PDEA-7 identified those arrested as alias “Edison,” 47, a jobless man identified as the alleged drug den maintainer; alias “Ramil,” 44, an e-bike driver identified as his alleged cohort; and alias “Karlah,” 38, a food vendor identified as a drug den visitor. All three are residents of Barangay Labangon.
Authorities said the operation stemmed from information provided by a confidential informant and concerned residents, followed by a two-week case buildup.
Police seized seven packs of suspected shabu weighing about 10 grams with an estimated value of ₱68,000, along with the marked buy-bust money and assorted drug paraphernalia.
According to PDEA, the suspected drug den had an estimated weekly disposal of 20 to 30 grams of suspected shabu.

Dalaguete buy-bust
Later that evening, at around 8:40 p.m., operatives from PDEA Cebu Provincial Office and Dalaguete Municipal Police Station carried out another buy-bust operation in Barangay Upper Balud, Dalaguete.
Arrested was a person known as alias “Marivic,” 40, who was identified as jobless.
However, her live-in partner and alleged cohort, alias “Onik,” managed to escape during the operation and remains at large.
Authorities said the operation was launched after receiving information from a confidential informant and conducting a one-month case buildup.
Recovered from the suspect were three packs of suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams with an estimated value of ₱340,000, the marked buy-bust money, one cellular phone, and other non-drug evidence.
PDEA said the suspects in Dalaguete were newly identified drug personalities with an estimated weekly disposal of about 50 grams of suspected shabu.

Charges prepared
As of Friday, July 10, the arrested suspects remain in the agency’s temporary custody, while the confiscated suspected shabu has been submitted to the PDEA-7 Regional Office Laboratory for examination and proper disposition.
PDEA-7 said the four suspects will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police are also continuing efforts to locate and arrest the suspect who escaped during the Dalaguete operation.
