Visitors and residents will once again be able to enjoy a wide range of free fitness classes and beach sports at Praia da Rocha this summer.
Held at the Área Desportiva da Praia da Rocha (Praia da Rocha Sports Area) from July 15 to September 12, the initiative offers activities for all ages, encouraging people to stay active while making the most of one of the Algarve’s best-known beaches.
Qualified instructors will lead free sessions of fitness, yoga, pilates, zumba and aqua aerobics, while those looking for a more informal workout can make use of equipment provided for beach football, beach volleyball, footvolley, beach tennis and frisbee.
Activities take place Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, and weekends from 8.30am to 6.30pm. No advance registration is required – participants simply turn up and join in.
The programme attracted more than 23,000 participants last year, while the sports area welcomes over 30,000 users annually, including recreational visitors and competitors.
Timetables for the activities can be consulted online.
