Death of Ganesh Nepali triggers protests in Kathmandu (Photos)

Demonstrations broke out at various locations in Kathmandu on Friday following the death of Ganesh Nepali of Mugu, who had attempted self-immolation outside the Department of Passports in Tripureshwor on Thursday.

Nepali died while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital.

After his death, relatives and supporters staged protests across different parts of the capital. A demonstration is also underway outside Bir Hospital, where he died.

According to his relatives, the incident occurred after officers from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Municipal Police placed a wheel lock on his motorcycle outside the Department of Passports. They allege that the action led Nepali to attempt self-immolation.
