Situbondo (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized that infrastructure development must deliver tangible benefits to the public and serve as a catalyst for economic growth.
He made the statement while reviewing the construction progress of the Prosiwangi Toll Road (Probolinggo-Situbondo-Banyuwangi) in Suboh Village, Situbondo District, East Java Province, on Friday.
"The government continues to accelerate the completion of various National Strategic Projects so that their benefits can be enjoyed by the public as soon as possible," he said in a press statement.
Gibran expressed hope that the Prosiwangi Toll Road would strengthen regional connectivity and enhance the region's competitiveness.
"It will also create more investment opportunities and jobs in East Java," he said.
Additionally, PT Jasa Marga reaffirmed its commitment to completing the project while upholding quality, safety, and good governance.
"Jasa Marga continues to accelerate the completion of the Prosiwangi Toll Road as part of our commitment to supporting the national development agenda," Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono said, adding that the company is ensuring quality, safety, sustainability, and added value to local communities, including through the employment of local workers and regional economic development.
The Prosiwangi Toll Road is expected to reduce travel time between Probolinggo and western Situbondo to about one hour and 15 minutes.
Once the entire toll road is fully operational, the travel time from Probolinggo to Banyuwangi is estimated to be cut to around three hours from the current five hours.
The project is designed to strengthen connectivity from Jakarta to Banyuwangi at the eastern tip of Java Island, serving as a key gateway to Bali.
