Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg marked his 31st birthday with a Facebook post that briefly left some followers wondering whether he was about to make a major political announcement.

In the post, Borg spoke about closing one chapter and beginning another, saying the road ahead would be filled with renewed energy and motivation. The wording led some readers to speculate that he was referring to a resignation or another significant political development.

However, Borg quickly put those rumours to rest, revealing he was simply talking about turning 31 and closing the chapter on his 30th year.

He added that the year ahead would be one in which he continues working with fresh energy and determination in his commitment to the Maltese people.

The post comes just days after supporters gathered to celebrate Borg ahead of his birthday, as he continues leading the Nationalist Party.
