
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 178 accredited motorcycle and car dealers have been summoned by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) from January to June this year over multiple violations.

“This was implemented following complaints the LTO received from owners that they were not able to receive on time their OR [original receipt], CR [certificate of registration] and plates which hindered them from legally using their new vehicles,” the LTO said in a statement

It also said that the following dealers recorded most number of complaints received by the agency:

LTO chairperson Markus Lacanilao warned that erring dealers will face consequences.
“Hindi ko rin hahayaan na patuloy na maantala ang serbisyo na dapat natatanggap ng publiko, dahil pagpapahirap ito sa ating mga motorista. Hindi natin ito kukunsintihin. Ang mga dealer na hindi sumusunod sa itinakda na regulasyon ng LTO ay papatawan ko ng preventive suspension, at kung kinakailangan, papatigilin ko ang kanilang operasyon,” he said in the same press release.
“I will not let public services be delayed because this causes inconvenience to motorists. We will not tolerate it. Dealers who do not follow regulations set by the LTO will face preventive suspension and if needed, termination of operation,” he said. /gsg
