Four active volcanoes remained under close monitoring as of Friday, with Mayon staying at alert level 3 and Kanlaon at alert level 2, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). Taal and Bulusan remained under alert level 1. Phivolcs warned of possible eruptions, lava flows, rockfalls, ashfall and volcanic gas emissions from these volcanoes, urging the public to stay out of designated danger zones and heed official advisories. —HAZEL P.
