Kate Middleton Shares Rare Photo With Prince William, Kids and More Family
Saddle up for love.
Kate Middleton and Prince William skirted royal etiquette during a rare PDA moment at the 2026 DMMI Royal Charity Polo Cup, with the Princess of Wales—clad in a black-and-white gingham dress by Temperley London—giving her husband of over 15 years a sweet kiss on the cheek when he and his team emerged victorious.
The couple—who share kids Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8—then held hands as they made their way off the field.
And while there aren't necessarily rules forbidding Kate and William, both 44, from kissing or holding hands in public, public displays of affection are traditionally refrained by royal couples. As William's former butler Grant Harrold explained to Time in 2018, "The British Royal family has been creating etiquette rules for centuries."
But while protocol can change depending "on where the royals are and what situation they’re in," he noted, "We don’t need to see too much—they have a private life of their own."
That's why it was a breath of fresh air for fans to see Kate and William horsing around at the fundraiser. In fact, the two shared a laugh when the DMMI Royal Charity Polo Cup trophy almost broke as Kate presented it to William's teammate.
As team captain Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha picked up the prize, the cup wobbled on its base and nearly fell to the ground, prompting a big grin from the royal couple.

And it was especially a momentous occasion for Kate, who skipped the sporting event in the last two years due to her cancer treatment and recovery.
When she announced in January 2025 that she is in remission, the mom of three made it a point to emphasize that "there is much to look forward to."
"As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal," Kate said at the time. "I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead."
