LEGAZPI CITY — Thin ashfall from Mayon Volcano affected several villages in Bacacay, Albay, on Friday (July 10).
Mayor Daniel Jose “Nookie” Bombales said residents observed the ashfall in the afternoon amid strong winds and rains brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoon Inday.

The local government and police distributed face masks to residents in the affected areas on Friday night.

Bombales urged residents to wear face masks when going outdoors and to keep their windows and doors closed whenever possible.

In its Saturday bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded 10 volcanic earthquakes, 241 rockfall events, and six pyroclastic density current signals.
Phivolcs also observed continuing lava flows that reached approximately 3.8 kilometers along the Basud Gully, 3.2 km along the Bonga Gully, and 2.1 km along the Mi-isi Gully. /das
