Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy explored a strategic partnership with shopping center operator Lippo Malls Indonesia to boost talent development, expand market access, and strengthen local intellectual properties (IPs).
As quoted in a statement on Saturday, Creative Economy Deputy Minister Irene Umar noted that fostering “a sustainable ecosystem for the creative economy” requires sound collaboration between the government and the private sector.
“Shopping centers can serve as a melting pot of creative talents, communities, industries, and residents, providing broader space for Indonesian creative works to grow and generate added value to the economy,” she said.
During a recent meeting, the ministry and the mall operator agreed on collaboration plans set to be translated into a series of creative activities in August and October 2026.
The program was designed to facilitate creative businesses across sub-sectors to display products, build networks, and explore commercial opportunities.
Umar emphasized the importance of ensuring the initiative is oriented toward developing a sustainable ecosystem enabling creative economy actors to thrive.
To that end, she called for stringent curation, collaboration between local brands, community involvement, and effective promotional strategies.
Chief Marketing Officer of Lippo Malls Indonesia Santiwati Basuki stated her side is determined to roll out programs supporting local IPs, communities, and creative economy talents to grow through shopping centers nationwide.
She said the approach is intended to build a suitable environment for creative works to contribute to the economy while expanding market reach for local products.
“We hope that Lippo Malls can catalyze Indonesia’s creative economic growth. Beyond providing space for exhibition, our objective extends into enabling local IPs and creative talents to grow into competitive brands with long-term viability in the retail space,” Basuki remarked.
