Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria has emphasized the importance of providing a safe space for children on online movie streaming platforms.
"I was informed by the Ministry of Creative Economy that Indonesian films are currently booming and highly popular. I believe this is an excellent momentum for us to also enrich national film that is safe for families and children to watch," he stated here on Saturday.
He assessed that all stakeholders play a crucial role in maintaining a safe digital space for children, allowing them to grow while enriching high-quality creations and works.
According to him, the digital space can help both children and creators develop creativity in producing healthy, educational, and inspiring content.
Therefore, he urged all online movie streaming platforms to comply with Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic System Implementation for Child Protection (PP Tunas), which aims to create a safe and comfortable space for children to access.
Platform operators have been requested to regulate age limits for children when accessing films, he pointed out.
He also expressed hope that the implementation of PP Tunas in the film industry could serve as an example for other countries.
"And of course, appropriate content that matches the age group can be managed using technology on the platforms, so that our children receive content suitable for their age," he said.
In addition, Patria said that the PP Tunas implementation has been quite successful so far, thanks to the collaboration of all stakeholders. Currently, age restrictions are being intensively implemented on accounts across various social media platforms.
"We hope that evaluations can be conducted continuously to keep improving all platforms in accordance with PP Tunas," he added.
