Habagat to drench PH as typhoon exits – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon, or habagat, is expected to continue to bring heavy rain over major parts of the country, the weather bureau said.

In a weather advisory issued at 5 pm on Saturday, July 11, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that monsoon rains are forecast to affect Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, occasional rains are also expected to prevail over the following areas due to habagat:

La Union

Pangasinan

Benguet

Zambales

Bataan

Pampanga

Tarlac

Bulacan

The weather bureau also reported that the southwest monsoon may bring gloomy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, the rest of Luzon, and Visayas.

The rest of Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rains due to habagat.

Meanwhile, the trough of Typhoon Bavi, formerly Inday, may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands, according to the weather bureau.

Pagasa, moreover, added that heavy rainfall may persist on Sunday, July 12, over Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, projecting 100 to 200 millimeters of rain.

Around 50 to 100 millimeters of rain is also forecast on Sunday over the following areas:

Pangasinan

Benguet

Tarlac

Pampanga

Bulacan

Metro Manila

Rizal

Cavite

Laguna

Batangas

Oriental Mindoro
