Robert Irwin Shares What Earns Him "Cool Points" As Uncle to Bindi Irwin’s Daughter Grace

Robert Irwin is already training the next pro.

The Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro host shared sweet details about his relationship with sister Bindi Irwin's daughter Grace, 5, explaining how he's scoring 10s across the board with his niece.

"Uncle Robert has earned some further cool points because now I can teach Grace how to dance," Robert exclusively told E! News. "She's very happy about that."

After all, the season 34 Mirrorball champion was able to spend more one-on-one time with his niece over the last year since his family traveled to Los Angeles to support him while he competed on DWTS. Plus, ABC’s new spin-off series The Next Pro was filmed at his "doorstep" in Brisbane, Australia, less than an hour from Robert's home.

"We even shot an episode of it at Australia Zoo," the 22-year-old shared, "so it was really special."

And when he'd return home filming episodes of his new show—premiering on ABC July 13—Grace would be ready for her dance lessons with her uncle.

"Every day I get back from shooting and Grace, my little niece, is like, 'OK, teach me how to do the jive. Teach me how to do the tango,'" Robert explained. "She's very little, so it's a little bit challenging, but she's such a bright and happy kid."

While the wildlife conservationist fills many roles in both his personal and professional life, being an uncle is the most important one of all, with Robert calling it the "best job" he's ever had.

As he said of his niece, "I love her with all my heart," before also praising Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell, calling the couple—who welcomed Grace in 2021—"incredible parents."

Ultimately, family is what matters most to Robert.

"Family to me is everything," he shared. "When I can do a project like [The Next Pro], which is a family-based show, amongst my family and my dance family, it was very special."

"Behind the scenes," Robert continued, "this was one of the greatest things I've ever worked on."

Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro premieres on ABC July 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes available the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
