MANILA, Philippines—Blackwater dominated Rain or Shine in a 131-108 wire-to-wire win to open its 2026 PBA Governors’ Cup campaign at Ynares Sports Center in Montalban on Saturday.
The Bossing appeared to get a measure of revenge after their infamous loss to the Elasto Painters in the previous conference.

“It was at the back of our minds,” revealed coach Pat Aquino, referring to Rain or Shine’s historic win over his Blackwater in the Commissioner’s Cup.

“But, that’s the past. I knew we had to prepare well with what coach Yeng (Guiao) is doing with Rain or Shine. We want to imitate what they’re doing, which is to be aggressive from start to finish and I think we did that part. We played together.”
Aquino was referring to the teams’ previous meeting, when the Elasto Painters set the record for the biggest blowout in PBA history with a 151-95 victory.
This time, it was Blackwater on the other side of the script with the Elasto Painters never tasting the lead.

Import Kentrell Barkley led the way with a triple-double of 29 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in his PBA debut.
Sedrick Barefield and RK Ilagan scored 24 and 22 points, respectively, while Dalph Panopio added 19.
Returning Rain or Shine import Aaron Fuller posted a double-double of 38 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. Adrian Nocum scored 17, while Gian Mamuyac added 12.
