
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Human skeletal remains, believed to belong to a woman, were discovered by residents in a swamp area in Proper Perrelos, Carcar City, on Friday afternoon, July 10, 2026.
The skeletal remains were found at around 4 p.m.
Earlier, the Carcar City Police Station received a report from a concerned citizen about the discovery of the skeletal remains in the area.

Authorities immediately responded and launched an initial investigation. Based on their findings, several youths had gone to the swamp to catch crabs for dinner when one of the male minors discovered the skeletal remains.
Investigators also found strands of long hair near the remains, leading them to believe that the skeleton may belong to a woman.

The youths immediately informed nearby residents, who then reported the incident to the police.
The Carcar City Police Station sought the assistance of the Regional Forensic Unit (RFU)-7 to determine whether the skeletal remains are human and to help establish the identity of the victim.
