President Trump issued a stark warning to Iran late Friday, after the Islamic Republic reportedly plotted an assassination attempt against the president.
“1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The tension comes as renewed strikes between the U.S. and Iran and scrutiny around fluctuating gas prices persist.
Trump is also facing backlash over his recent decision to fire Democratic members on an independent election commission, sparking concerns over his influence on the election ahead of the midterms.
Meanwhile, a bipartisan housing bill, stalled by the president over his election reform push, became law overnight Saturday without Trump’s signature.
The president is in Washington, D.C. for the weekend.
