
The Abia State Police Command says it has arrested one Chidera Okorie, 22, of Obinolu Ngodo Isiochi I, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, over alleged armed robbery.
In a Saturday statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, said the arrest was based on “actionable intelligence.”
According to the statement, “on 5th June, based on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended Chidera Okorie, a 22-year-old male from Obinolu Ngodo Isiochi.
“The suspect is known to be habitually robbing unsuspecting members of the public using a stainless lighter designed to resemble a pistol, thereby instilling fear in his victims and dispossessing them of their belongings.”

The police said other related items were recovered from the suspect during his arrest.
The statement added that the investigation was ongoing and that the suspect would be charged in court upon its conclusion.
The CP urged members of the public to report any security concerns to the nearest police station to help keep the state safe.
