MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring rains over much of Luzon and the Visayas on Sunday even after Tropical Storm Inday exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its weather forecast, Pagasa said occasional rains are expected over Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.
Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and the Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also caused by the southwest monsoon, which could trigger flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rainfall.

Mindanao, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
Pagasa said sea conditions remain rough over extreme Northern Luzon, where strong southwesterly winds are expected to generate waves of 2.8 to four meters.
Moderate to rough seas, with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 meters, will prevail over the rest of Luzon and the Visayas, while moderate seas are forecast over Mindanao.
The state weather bureau said the effects of the southwest monsoon are expected to gradually weaken in the coming days following Inday’s exit from PAR on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pagasa is monitoring a low-pressure area outside PAR, located about 2,205 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas as of early Sunday.
The weather disturbance has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours and is not expected to directly affect the country’s weather at this time.
