
LUCENA CITY — Typhoon Inday and the enhanced southwest monsoon have affected more than 1,000 families across the Calabarzon region, prompting the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to continue relief operations and prepare additional assistance for affected communities.
In a report released Saturday night (July 11), DSWD Field Office IV-A said an estimated 1,032 families in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon had been affected by the weather disturbance as of 4 p.m. Saturday, based on reports from local government units.
Since Saturday, the agency has provided P659,096 worth of humanitarian assistance to affected individuals and families.

The assistance included the distribution of 950 family food packs (FFPs) to non-displaced families in the municipality of General Luna, Quezon, and 66 ready-to-eat food packs (RTEFs) to passengers stranded at Dalahican Port in Lucena City following the suspension of ferry trips.
The DSWD said it continues to receive and evaluate augmentation requests from local government units across the region to support the distribution of relief goods as part of its disaster response operations.
Earlier, DSWD Field Office IV-A announced that it had prepositioned 228,267 family food packs, 12,396 ready-to-eat food packs, and 11,125 non-food items in satellite warehouses across the five Calabarzon provinces to ensure the immediate availability of relief supplies.
The field office also maintains P3 million in standby funds to facilitate the prompt delivery of humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the storm. /mcm
