Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Maman Abdurrahman, said the income of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers had not fallen following the implementation of the policy allocating 92 percent of commissions to drivers and 8 percent to app operators.
"I have enquired about the issue that their earnings have actually decreased despite their commission being set at 92 percent. We confirmed them about this and they said it was not the case," Abdurrahman said in a statement received here in Jakarta on Sunday.
Abdurrahman had confirmed with the 19 ride-hailing communities and associations from various regions. As a result, the majority of ojol drivers said they were grateful for the policy introduced directly by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
If any drivers had experienced a drop in earnings over the past week, Abdurrahman added, it was not due to a change in the commission structure, but rather because of the school and university holiday season.
"Some of them said fine, a few may have experienced a decline. We need to look at the current situation, especially since schools and universities are on holiday. With students also on break, it's not solely a matter of commission distribution," he explained.

Meanwhile, an online motorcycle taxi driver named Reza said the benefits of the 8 percent commission policy were felt directly by drivers. Reza appreciated the government's concern for the welfare of ojol drivers.
"We appreciate the government's concern for online motorcycle taxi driver because we have felt the benefits of this 8 percent policy, as our income has increased," he noted.
Reza hoped the recognition of ojol drivers as MSMEs would translate into tangible programmes to improve their earnings, such as stimulus support, empowerment initiatives, expedited access to government programmes, and greater clarity on participation.
"We hope this MSME status can be followed up with concrete and positive programmes, whether it's stimulus, empowerment, or accelerated access to government programmes," he remarked.
Starting in early July 2026, ojol drivers receive at least 92 percent of the trip value after Gojek and Grab agreed to reduce the service cut to 8 percent. This aligns with Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Online Transportation Workers.
