Two crew members aboard an oil tanker were medically evacuated by the Armed Forces of Malta this morning after requiring urgent assistance at sea.
In a statement, the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) said the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC Malta) was alerted to the situation involving an oil tanker located around 13 nautical miles off Malta’s coast.
An AFM rescue vessel was immediately deployed to the scene, where the two crew members were safely evacuated from the tanker.
They were then transported ashore and handed over to medical personnel from Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment.
The AFM has not released any further details regarding the condition of the two crew members or the nature of the medical emergency.
