MANILA, Philippines — House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil on Sunday said the vehicle involved in a July 10 fatal hit-and-run with a motorcycle along Ortigas Avenue is not owned by a member of the House of Representatives.
The statement comes as the House extended its condolences to the victim’s family.
Garafil said the Toyota Land Cruiser that figured in the incident had not been issued a vehicle pass for the Batasang Pambansa complex during the 19th and 20th Congress.

“The House remains open and transparent on this matter and will release additional information once further important details are confirmed,” she also said in Filipino.
A woman was killed while a motorcycle rider was injured after being struck by the vehicle that fled the scene, with San Juan police nabbing the driver after a brief chase, and handing the suspect to Mandaluyong police for investigation.
“Based on verification with Land Transportation Office records, the registered owner is not a member of the House,” said Garafil.
