MANILA, Philippines—NLEX import Daequan Jones attributed the team’s early success in the PBA Governors’ Cup to new head coach Jimmy Alapag.
Following the Road Warriors’ 101-100 win over Terrafirma at Ynares Sports Center in Montalban on Sunday, Jones was quick to credit Alapag and his system.

“Coach Jimmy does a great job in putting us in advantageous positions,” said Jones after posting a game-high 30 points. “Because of that, I don’t really have to do much but play hard.”

Starting backcourt Robert Bolick and Schony Winston backstopped Jones with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The reserves also stepped up, providing NLEX with 40 bench points.
“The biggest thing is, every game is important. The more wins we get, puts us in a better position moving forward,” said Alapag.
