ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office advised residents on Sunday to remain vigilant as continuous rains brought by Typhoon Inday (internationally known as Bavi) and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) continue to raise water levels in several dams across Iloilo province.
In its 5 p.m. dam update on Sunday, July 12, NIA said it was closely monitoring water levels in irrigation facilities and urged the public to keep track of official dam advisories as rainfall persists in various parts of the province.
Among the monitored facilities, the Aganan Dam in Barangay Igtambo, San Miguel, recorded the highest water level at 3.0 meters above riverbed (marb), exceeding its normal operating level of 2.6 MARB. Despite the elevated water level, none of its two sluice gates had been opened.
