
LUCENA CITY, Philippines — Seven men were arrested in an anti-illegal fuel operation in Batangas City for allegedly engaging in the unauthorized sale and trading of petroleum products, police said.
The operation was conducted by the Regional Field Unit 4A (RFU4A) of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group from around 10 p.m. on July 9 until 9 p.m. the following day in Barangay Wawa, according to a belated report.
The buy-bust operation was jointly carried out by operatives from the CIDG, the Batangas Maritime Police Station, the Batangas Police Provincial Office, and the Philippine Ports Authority in Batangas.

The suspects, whose identities were withheld pending the filing of charges, were allegedly caught selling and trading diesel fuel without the required government authority or license.
Authorities seized a tugboat carrying approximately 31,199 liters of diesel fuel, along with five plastic containers filled with diesel. The recovered tugboat and petroleum products have an estimated market value of P62.29 million, according to the report.

The arrested suspects and the seized evidence were placed under the custody of RFU4A for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges. Meanwhile, the recovered tugboat was turned over to the Batangas Maritime Police Station for safekeeping. /atm
