Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has completed a return to South African side Chippa United, five months after parting ways with the club.
The 30-year-old is back with the Chilli Boys ahead of the 2026/27 campaign following a spell away from competitive football after his departure in February 2026. His absence from club action also impacted his position in Nigeria’s senior national team.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return on Sunday through its official social media platforms.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys.

“After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club,” the club announced.
Nwabali first joined Chippa United in 2022 before earning widespread recognition with his outstanding displays for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.
Following his exit from Chippa United earlier this year, the goalkeeper spent several months without competitive football, a situation that limited his playing opportunities and affected his standing in the national team.
His return to the Eastern Cape club offers him the chance to regain regular first-team football as he aims to revive his career and fight for a place in the Super Eagles squad ahead of future international assignments.
