
OLONGAPO CITY — More local governments in Zambales suspended classes on Monday, July 13, as persistent rains brought by the southwest monsoon continued to affect the province.
The municipal governments of San Marcelino and Sta. Cruz suspended classes at all levels in public and private schools.
In Candelaria, classes from Day Care to Senior High School in public and private schools were also suspended.

The latest announcements came after several LGUs issued class suspension orders on Sunday night, July 12.

Classes at all levels in public and private schools were earlier suspended in the municipalities of Subic, Castillejos, San Antonio, San Narciso, San Felipe, Cabangan, Botolan, Masinloc, and Palauig, as well as in Olongapo.
In the capital town of Iba, classes from Day Care to Senior High School in public and private schools were likewise suspended.
In its advisory issued at 5 a.m. on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Zambales was under a heavy rainfall outlook due to the southwest monsoon, with expected rainfall of 50 to 100 millimeters throughout the day.
Authorities advised residents to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides and to monitor official advisories. /mcm
