
CALASIAO, Pangasinan – Separate buy-bust operations in different Ilocos Region towns yielded P974,000 worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of three “high-value individuals (HIVs)” during the weekend.
In Alilem, Ilocos Sur on Saturday, two HVIs who reside in Benguet province’s Bakun town were arrested by joint operatives who seized five kilograms of suspected marijuana leaves worth P600,000.

In Villasis, Pangasinan on the same day, a female suspect from Urdaneta City was found with suspected shabu contained in three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets worth P374,999.

The drug operations were conducted by the municipal police in Alilem, Ilocos Sur, and Villasis, the provincial police offices of Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur, and the Police Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
Police Brigadier General Jovencio S. Badua Jr., Ilocos police regional director, said every successful operation weakens the networks that fuel the illegal drug trade.
“Our objective is not only to arrest offenders but to disrupt the operations of those who profit from the illegal drug trade,” he said./coa
