
MANILA, Philippines — Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa has submitted his courtesy resignation to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to “take care” of himself.
Marcos has yet to accept Herbosa’s resignation.
Controversies have marred the health chief’s four-year term.

A source told the Inquirer that Marcos is reportedly considering veteran orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jose “Brix” Pujalte Jr. as the next head of the Department of Health (DOH).

Malacañang and the DOH have yet to comment on the reported development.
In a message to DOH officials on Monday, Herbosa, who is currently on sick leave, said he would need three to four months of “extensive rehabilitation” following his recent knee replacement surgery.
