The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has concluded all arrangements to arraign a former Minister of Science, Uche Nnaji, over alleged certificate forgery on Monday, Daily Trust has learnt.
Nnaji has been in the custody of the anti-graft agency since July 1, when he was arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, when he boarded a private jet to Abuja.
The former Minister, who was later handed over to the ICPC, will be arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to be presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik.
Our correspondent reports that Nnaji resigned last October under controversial circumstances of allegedly forging a Bachelor of Science Degree obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
He was said to have forged a UNN degree certificate and that of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The institution had since disowned Nnaji’s forged certificate.
Court documents sighted by our correspondent on Sunday showed that Nnaji is the sole defendant in the charge that borders on forgery.
The spokesman of the ICPC, John Odey, could not be reached for official comment at the time of filing this report as calls to his mobile phone did not connect.
