LIVE: VP Sara Duterte impeachment Day 4

The impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte enters its second week and fourth day, which will kick off with the House prosecution panel presenting its second witness. The witness will testify on the alleged “hitman” contracted by the vice president to assassinate President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

In a November 2024 video, VP Duterte stated she had contracted a hitman to kill them if she herself were killed.

The trial is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Lawmakers will address crucial procedural details, hear opening arguments from both sides, and rule on motions that could significantly shape the proceedings.

If at least two-thirds of the Senate votes to convict, Duterte will be removed from office and potentially banned from public service for life.
