
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of two newly completed port facilities in Mahinog, Camiguin, on Monday.
The President inspected and formally opened the Benoni Port Operations Building and the Light Craft Landing Station. Both projects are designed to improve passenger convenience, strengthen maritime operations, and boost connectivity through one of the island-province’s primary gateways.
Following the port ceremonies, Marcos graced the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang: Camiguin” program at the Camiguin gymnasium in Mambajao town to pair the infrastructure development with the delivery of social services.

Throughout the event, national agencies provided frontline services and financial aid to residents as part of the administration’s push to make state programs more accessible to local communities.
Fernando Mapalo Jr., Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) manager for Misamis Oriental, noted that the new facilities further strengthened port operations and improved public service delivery for travelers utilizing the Benoni Port.
Joining Marcos during the day’s events were Department of Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez, PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago, Camiguin Gov. Xavier Jesus D. Romualdo, Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, Mahinog Mayor Rey Lawrence Tan, Mambajao Mayor Yñigo Jesus Romualdo, and other local officials.
