CABC 8th Corporate Cup playoff field officially set

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The playoff picture for the Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) 8th Corporate Cup is now complete after the conclusion of the classification round on Sunday, July 12, at the Game Changer in Mandaue City.

The top four teams secured twice-to-beat incentives heading into the playoffs, which begin on July 19.

SR & T Industrial Supply emerged as the top seed after finishing the elimination round with a 6-1 record. It capped off its campaign with a 93-89 victory over EZ Pavers, which claimed the fourth seed despite ending with a 4-3 slate.

EZ Pavers edged fifth-seeded Corr Chem for the final twice-to-beat berth through the points quotient tiebreaker after both teams finished with identical records.

Criz Matunog led SR & T Industrial Supply with 18 points, five rebounds, and a steal to earn Player of the Game honors.

Landlite secured the No. 2 seed despite absorbing a 79-74 defeat to Corr Chem. Although the victory was not enough to propel Corr Chem into the top four, it closed out the classification round with a respectable showing behind Jyrell Allanic, who erupted for 25 points along with six assists, three steals, and a rebound.

Boysen Paint locked up the third seed after cruising to a dominant 123-86 victory over Modern Windows. The win improved Boysen Paint’s record to 5-2, securing another twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

Kim Rebosura spearheaded the rout with a game-high 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

Davies Paints left standing

In the day’s other game, Davies Paints outlasted Elite Athletics, 78-71, behind Geneil Pido’s double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds, complemented by four assists and a steal.

Davies Paints wrapped up the classification round with a 2-5 record, while Elite Athletics remained winless after six games.

The playoffs will feature the top four seeds enjoying twice-to-beat incentives against the fifth to eighth-ranked teams when postseason action tips off on July 19.
