
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya-A 36-year-old village watchman, his wife, and his fifth-grade son died instantly when they were electrocuted by an open wire at their house in San Luis, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya on Sunday night, police and village officials said on Monday.
The Costales family members, whose names were not disclosed, were found lying on top of each other at their backyard open bath area.

The watchman was first electrocuted while trying to hang clothes on an iron wire, which turned out to have touched a live and open wire. His wife, who was then pumping water at their pump well, allegedly tried to help but was also electrocuted. Their son also tried to help but was also electrocuted, according to Alfredo Costales Jr., the watchman’s brother.

Due to the intensity of the electrocution, various parts of the victims’ bodies turned black and cracked, he said.
The victims’ father immediately called for help, but they were officially declared dead on arrival at the hospital where they were rushed at around 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Their three-year-old son was inside their house when the tragedy occurred.
Village chair Ernesto Ramones said they will provide financial assistance and help process the watchman’s insurance. The watchman had been working at the village for almost 20 years, he added./coa
