Mrs. Sangita Pahadi has been reinstated as the Managing Director (MD) of Nepal Telecom (NTC) after being acquitted by the Special Court in the corruption case involving the billing system operation.
After the clean chit, Mrs. Pahadi’s suspension was lifted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT). Pahadi faced suspension after an allegation of her involvement in the possible corruption in Nepal Telecom’s billing system operation. The Special Court, though, has acquitted all 18, including Mrs. Pahadi, in the case lodged by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), citing that it saw no wrongdoing and ill effects on the company.
After assuming the office as the NTC MD, again, Mrs. Pahadi said that there is no need to fear if one works with honesty and for the benefit of the organization and the country. She also stressed that the truth has been established.
She also thanked the management team and employees who took the leadership role in her absence. During her address, she pledged to take the company forward as a more competitive, professional, and customer-friendly organization.

NTC MD Pahadi’s main objectives
Mrs. Pahadi emphasized that the company would focus more on the decision-making system and improving its internal processes. Work will go forward by prioritizing the perspectives of customers and external stakeholders, along with internal management.
Further, her responsibility will be to improve the data speed and work on more customer-friendly packages. Similarly, she will have a major role in realizing NTC’s launch of 5G network in Nepal.
CIAA had filed a corruption case in the Special Court on 25 Jestha 2082, claiming irregularities in the billing system procurement and maintenance process. A sum of Rs 33.48 crore was demanded in the case.
However, in its verdict on 25 Ashad, the Special Court acquitted Mrs. Pahadi and all the accused, which paved the way for her to return to the company as the MD. She was first appointed as the company’s MD on Bhadra 20, 2081, and now, she resumes her tenure at the company’s leadership.
