Two climbers have died on Gran
Paradiso after falling into a crevasse, rescuers said Monday.
Their bodies were recovered by the Valle d'Aosta Alpine Rescue
team, who had been searching for them since July 9th, the day
they left the Vittorio Emanuele II refuge for their ascent.
Several helicopter overflights were conducted in recent days,
with no success.
This morning, the crevasse was located, and two climbers who had
fallen from a depth of approximately 20 meters were extracted.
The identification operations are being entrusted to the Guardia
di Finanza of Entrèves-Courmayeur.
