Beyoncé, Daughter Blue Ivy Carter Make Surprise Appearance During Jay-Z’s NYC Concert Stop
Jay-Z had 99 problems before his latest NYC concert stop.
After the music mogul hit the stage more than four hours late during the final show in his three-night stint at Yankee Stadium—which celebrates the 30th anniversary of his 1996 album Reasonable Doubt—in New York City July 12, he addressed his tardiness.
“Let me explain the delay to you guys,” Jay-Z said after commencing the show after midnight July 13, according to social media footage from the event. “It was like 10,000 people outside, and we closed all the doors, and somebody rushed the door. They closed the door for you guys’ safety and everyone’s safety outside.”
“There’s 10,000 people outside; I don’t want to start the music and people get trampled,” he added. “I’m really sorry for the inconvenience, but I had to make sure everyone was OK. I appreciate your patience.”
Though the performance didn’t wrap until nearly 3:00 a.m., it seems to have been well worth the wait.
After all, Rihanna was just one special guest the 56-year-old brought out onstage, making a rare concert appearance to join Jay-Z for a performance of their 2009 hit “Run This Town” before singing a solo rendition of “B---h Better Have My Money.”
And the cameos didn’t stop there. Indeed, the “Otis” rapper also welcomed Teyana Taylor to the stage for “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” as well as Usher and Pharrell Williams.

And nobody was on mute when Jay-Z’s wife Beyoncé took the stage, performing the pair’s sultry 2013 track “Drunk in Love” while sporting a Yankees T-shirt for the show dubbed “Extra Innings.”
But it wouldn’t be the first time Queen Bey had Jay-Z’s NYC crowd buzzing. In fact, the “CUFF IT” singer also joined her husband onstage during his July 10 performance at Yankee Stadium, surprising fans by opening the show in a bedazzled pinstripe jumpsuit and statement jewelry.
Before exiting the stage, Beyoncé, 44, gave her husband a tender kiss, adding, “I love you so much.”

And she wasn’t the only Carter in attendance that night. Indeed, the pair’s 14-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter also took the stage during her dad’s performance, playing a piano solo as she joined the Brooklyn native for “Feelin’ It.”
Though the teen showed off her dancing skills during her mom’s 32-show Cowboy Carter tour last year, Jay-Z—who also shares 9-year-old twins Rumi and Sir with Beyoncé—shared that tickling the ivories is his eldest daughter’s true gift.
“Blue is a crazy pianist, but she won’t let us get her a teacher,” Jay-Z told GQ in an interview published March 24. “She doesn’t want it to be a job. But she has perfect pitch. If she hears a song, she’ll be like, 'Play it again' and then she’ll teach herself.”
“That’s just talent,” he added, “She doesn’t work at that."
