Young Maltese karting sensation Zane Pace has made history once again, becoming the first Maltese driver ever to win a race in the prestigious WSK Euro Series, one of the highest levels of international karting.
Pace produced a dominant performance throughout the latest championship round, qualifying third overall out of 45 drivers before consistently finishing at the front in the heats.
After securing second place in the pre-final, he capped off the weekend with a sensational victory in the final, climbing to the top step of the podium.
The triumph marked another milestone for Maltese motorsport, with the Maltese national anthem played at a WSK Euro Series event for the very first time following a race win by a Maltese driver.
The latest achievement comes just months after Pace became the first Maltese driver to win the WSK Master Series Championship in the Mini GR.3 category, cementing his status as one of the country’s brightest young motorsport talents.
Competing for the legendary Tony Kart Racing Team, which has helped develop some of the biggest names in motorsport, including seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher during his karting career, Pace continues to fly the Maltese flag on some of the world’s biggest karting stages.
Speaking after his victory, Pace described the moment as one he will “cherish forever”, saying it was an incredible honour to represent Malta and hear the national anthem played after such an important international win.
With two historic achievements already under his belt this season, the young driver is continuing to establish himself as one of Malta’s most promising sporting talents.
