The Msida Creek Project has reached another major milestone with the official opening of the new Msida Square, located opposite the Parish Church, just in time for the Feast of St Joseph.
For the first time, Msida now has a 2,200-square-metre public square, providing a dedicated space for the village’s biggest celebrations, including the religious procession, outdoor festivities, the traditional Ġostra, and other community events.
Infrastructure Minister Jonathan Attard, Infrastructure Malta CEO Steve Ellul and representatives from the Msida Local Council visited the site this morning to mark the opening of the new public square and view the latest progress on the wider Msida Creek Project.
While construction continues across other parts of the wider project, the new square is now open to residents and visitors. The next phase will see the space enhanced with landscaping, including the planting of new trees, shrubs and green areas, creating an even more welcoming public environment.
The wider Msida Creek Project, led by Infrastructure Malta, began in November 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2027. Once finished, it will deliver improved roads, safer walking and cycling routes, additional public spaces, and a greener, more accessible Msida.
The opening of the square marks one of the project’s biggest milestones so far, with work on the remaining road network and surrounding infrastructure continuing over the coming months.
