A 17-year-old boy who was 15 at the
time of the alleged crime on Monday changed his claims of
innocence in the death of his 13-year-old then girlfriend who
fell to her death from a building in Piacenza in October 2024,
and confessed to pushing her out of the window at an appeals
trial after he was convicted and sentenced to 17 years in jail
at a first-instance trial last year.
The boy, who has not been named becausw he is a minor, admitted
killing Aurora Tila by throwing her from a balcony in the
northern Italian city on October 25, 2024.
He changed his story and also apologized for his action and for
waiting so long to admit it.
"With the confession, a circle closes. But we hope the Court
will uphold the first-instance ruling, which established an
appropriate sentence," said lawyer Emilio Malaspina,
representing the mother of the girl who was a victim of
femicide.
The trial has been adjourned until September 10.
