Brian Austin Green Reveals His Real Name After Changing It 40 Years Ago
Brian Austin Green’s perspective on romance was forever transformed by Megan Fox.
Six years after their divorce, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum shared how the relationship changed his perspective when he pursued now-fiancée Sharna Burgess.
“Until Sharna, my ex and I were together for almost 15 years,” Green reflected during an appearance on the I Do, Part 2 podcast July 12. “We were married for almost 10 years and I led with physical attraction.”
As Green—dad to Kassius, 21, with ex Vanessa Marcil, as well as Noah, 13, Bodhi, 12, and Journey, 9, with Fox and Zane, 4, with Burgess—noted of his romance with Fox, which began in the mid-aughts, “I’d be physically attracted to somebody and then sort of build a relationship around that.”
However, after Green and the Transformers star, 40, split in 2020, he opted for a different approach when it came to finding love again—especially considering he was, at that point, a single dad of four.
“I knew that I didn’t want to repeat things that I had done,” Green, 52, recalled. “So I went through all sorts of therapy and all sorts of things to really figure out what it was that I brought into a relationship that was just toxic and wasn’t good and wasn’t helping the relationship at all.”
And since he and the Dancing With the Stars alum, whom he met in 2020, started their relationship as friends first, it completely transformed the dynamic.
“When you started from a place of a genuine connection with someone, then you’re not so concerned about whether they are truly into you or not,” he posited, “because you guys are already speaking to each other in a very transparent way. Sharna and I talked about our best qualities and our worst qualities together. We sort of put it all out on the table.”

As he put it, “For us, it was pretty apparent then like, ‘Oh, hey, we should stick with us. This seems to be working.’”
When it came to how he approached his past relationships, Green—who previously dated Tiffani Thiessen and Tichina Arnold—realized it was inevitable he was going to face problems.
“Your approach to a relationship is the best way to know if it’s just a purely physical connection,” he considered. “That’s only going to last for so long that you’re going to get to a point where you go, ‘I can’t stand that other person. So they’re not hot to me anymore.’”
While Green’s romantic chapter with Fox has come to an end, the duo still have a strong coparenting relationship. Keep reading for a deeper look at their blended family…
