A teenage boy has been arrested after another boy sustained life-threatening injuries in a suspected stabbing at a Brisbane school.
Emergency services were called to the Islamic College of Brisbane in Karawatha in Brisbane's outer south just before midday after reports of an altercation between two students.
A 17-year-old boy has been taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old boy, known to the wounded boy, is assisting police.
Police said on arrival, officers were initially unable to locate the second boy; however, following enquiries, he was later found in a vehicle on Gowan Road at Stretton.
Investigators are appealing to anyone with relevant information or CCTV or dashcam footage from the Karawatha area to come forward.
In an email to parents seen by the ABC, the school said students were being dismissed early as a "precautionary measure" due to "an incident on campus".
"There is no ongoing risk to the College community. As the matter involves the privacy of individuals, we are unable to provide further details and appreciate your understanding and respect for the confidentiality of those involved," the statement said.
"The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our highest priority, and we appreciate your continued support."
The incident is the second alleged stabbing at a Queensland school in as many days.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged over an incident in Cairns on Monday in which another boy, also aged 15, was wounded at Trinity Bay State High.
