Pickleball may be one of the newest sports to gain traction in the Philippines, but its community in Cebu is growing faster than ever. As more players discover the game and more courts open across the city, partnerships that help bring the sport to a wider audience are becoming just as important as the matches themselves.
We’re not only filling courts, but we’re opening opportunities, we’re building communities, and we want to elevate the sport in Cebu and beyond.

On July 11, 2026, Onda Fit took another step in supporting that growth by officially signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Wonggoys, welcoming the Cebu-based band known for their melodic beats & stylish harmonies as its newest brand ambassadors.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the local pickleball community while encouraging more Cebuanos to discover the sport.
The partnership is aimed at broadening the sport’s reach in Cebu by working with personalities who already have an established following among Cebuanos and who are active pickleball players themselves.
Onda Fit CEO Patricia Loren said the Wonggoys partnership reflects the company’s goal of building community around the sport rather than focusing solely on court bookings and app features.
“We’re not only filling courts, but we’re opening opportunities, we’re building communities, and we want to elevate the sport in Cebu and beyond,” Loren said.
The Onda Fit app, introduced at the same event, allows users to discover nearby courts, book sessions, connect with other players, and manage games through a single platform. Additional community-focused features are expected in future updates. The app is available on iOS and Android.
A sport on the rise
Pacific Equities Group President George Padin said the Philippines currently has an estimated 100,000 active pickleball players and around 1,000 courts nationwide. Approximately 400 of those courts were built within the last year, accounting for nearly two-thirds of existing inventory. Many facilities are already operating at utilization rates above 90 percent.
Padin said the Philippines is still in an early growth phase compared to more established markets like the United States, and that continued court development will create benefits across investors, facility operators, and new players entering the sport.
For Onda Fit, the pace of growth in Cebu is both an opportunity and an operational challenge. As more courts open and demand increases, managing bookings through informal channels becomes harder to sustain, which is the gap the app is designed to address.
