
MANILA, Philippines — Former Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan on Tuesday appeared before the Sandiganbayan Second Division for a hearing to drop the graft case he is facing him before being admitted as a state witness.
On June 29, state prosecutors filed through email a Motion for Leave to File Amended Information on the exclusion of Bonoan in the graft case.
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada is Bonoan’s co-accused of graft in the said division.

Previously, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said the institutional knowledge of Bonoan, who already agreed to be a state witness, will help the anti-graft body “prove many cases.

Bonoan is also charged with plunder in a P573 million case involving Estrada filed before the anti-graft court’s Fifth Division.
State prosecutors have also filed before the anti-graft court’s Fifth Division a motion to amend case information to drop Bonoan from the plunder case.
Due to this motion, the arraignment proceeding of Estrada and Bonoan, which was supposed to be held this Tuesday, June 30, was moved to July 28. /gsg
