CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Inflation in the Mimaropa region eased to 5.2 percent in June 2026, down from 5.9 percent in May, as lower costs of food, transport, and housing-related commodities tempered overall price growth in Region IV-B (the provinces of Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said.
In a report released on July 13, the PSA Regional Statistical Services Office-MIMAROPA said the June inflation rate, while slower than the previous month, remained significantly higher than the 1.4 percent recorded in June 2025.

Chief Statistical Specialist Ma. Leizl Magbojos said the deceleration was mainly driven by the slower rise in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which posted a 4.7-percent inflation rate.

Among the major contributors were cereals, particularly rice, with an inflation rate of 11 percent; meat and other parts, which registered a -4.3 percent inflation rate; and vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses, including onions, at 3.7 percent inflation.
Transport was the second-largest contributor to the slower inflation, posting 15.3 percent inflation. The PSA attributed this to slower price increases in petroleum products, with gasoline recording 40 percent inflation and diesel measured at 38.2 percent last month.
The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels category also helped ease overall inflation, registering 4.9 percent. Major contributors included water supply, which posted -6.6 percent inflation, electricity at -12.5 percent, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at 35.2 percent inflation.
The PSA said it will continue to monitor price movements across the region as inflation remains above last year’s level despite the month-on-month slowdown./coa
