Have you received this heat alert SMS?
People across Malta and Gozo have started receiving a text message from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry for Health, warning them to take extra care as temperatures continue to rise.
The message reads: “Keep cool, stay out of the sun, drink water,” urging people to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the heat.
The alert comes as Malta prepares for its hottest stretch of the year so far, with the real feel expected to reach 40°C by Sunday.
The SMS forms part of the government’s heat-health campaign, reminding the public to look after themselves during periods of extreme heat, particularly older people, young children and anyone vulnerable to heat-related illness.
How are you beating the heat?
