A gun ban will be in effect from Thursday, July 16, as part of security measures for the polls, according to the Commission on Elections.
Nartatez said he directed the PNP to strengthen its deployment in public areas as the gun ban is set to be implemented.
Nartatez also said that the PNP will continue to coordinate closely with the Armed Forces of the Philippines in a bid to prevent remnants of the Abu Sayyaf Group and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters from causing untoward incidents during the elections.
The BARMM parliamentary elections are scheduled on September 14. /gsg
