
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – Police operatives arrested a fisherman tagged as a high-value target in an early-morning raid on Tuesday, after serving two search warrants in Barangay Kaliantana, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.
At about 7 a.m., personnel from the Naga Municipal Police Station, backed by other law enforcement agencies, implemented Search Warrant No. 323 for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Search Warrant No. 324 for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) in Purok 5, Barangay Kaliantana, Naga town.
The suspect, identified only as “Nong,” 46, a fisherman and resident of the area, was arrested after authorities seized two large heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about 100 grams, with a street value of P680,000.

Also recovered were a digital weighing scale, a caliber .45 pistol with live ammunition, and other paraphernalia.
Cpt. Jilbert Escobin, Naga police chief, said the warrants were issued on July 6 by Hon. Anthony Isaw, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court, Ninth Judicial Region, Branch 24 in Ipil town.
The suspect was brought to the Naga Municipal Police Station for disposition, while the seized items will be presented to the issuing court in compliance with the return of the search warrant before being forwarded to the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Forensic Unit for examination.
In a related development, a street-level drug personality, a male laborer, was arrested on Monday evening, July 13, at about 10:35 p.m. during a joint buy-bust operation in Siay town.

Maj. Jonathan Catubay, Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office information officer, said authorities confiscated 35 sachets of suspected shabu weighing about eight grams, valued at P54,000.
The suspect was turned over to the Siay Municipal Police Station, while the seized items were also sent to the provincial forensic unit for examination.
